Primary focus is gastrointestinal surgical oncology and surgical endocrinology. Surgery for tumours of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts adrenal glands and intestines. Surgery for morbid obesity, gallstone disease and chronic pancreatitis.
Gastrointestinal cancer surgery (surgical oncology) is my chief interest, focusing especially on colorectal cancer and colorectal cancer liver metatstases, neuroendocrine cancers of intestines and pancreas and their metastases, primary liver tumours, pancreatic cancers and other pancreatic tumours (including intraductal papillary mucosal neoplasia (IPMN), gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) and adrenal tumours.
Laparoscopic liver and pancreatic resections are done for selected tumours of the liver and pancreas. Most adrenal tumours are resected laparoscopically.
Being a specialist hepatobiliary surgeon, laparoscopic cholecystectomy forms an important part of my routine surgery and also encompasses surgery for complicated gallstone disease, including laparoscopic common bile duct exploration, biliary reconstruction after bile duct injuries and resection of choledochal cysts. Surgery for complicated chronic pancreatitis and management of acute pancreatitis are also areas of special interest.
